Nepali Congress will go to the election after nominating a prime ministerial candidate: President Gagan Thapa

Newly elected Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has said that the party will go to the elections by nominating a prime ministerial candidate.

Speaking on Kantipur's podcast series Beyond the Headline on Friday, Thapa said that the issue of the Prime Minister's candidate will be finalized after discussing it in the Central Committee. He said, 'We will decide who will be the Prime Minister's candidate after consulting with friends in the Central Committee.'

According to him, in the course of making a final effort for unity, the Special General Convention party had submitted an 8-point proposal to the Establishment Party. One of the points of which was to nominate a Prime Minister's candidate and go to the election. He clarified that he did not propose to become the Prime Minister himself, but that such a point was included so that the Congress should put forward a Prime Minister's candidate in the election.

President Thapa also said that the Congress would nominate candidates in only 165 constituencies and go to the election. The Congress also claimed that it would not seek votes except for the tree symbol.
