Former Prime Minister and Nepali Communist Party (NCP) coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal has appealed to not have any doubts about the upcoming elections on Falgun 21. Inaugurating the administrative building of Bharatpur Metropolitan City on Friday, he said that there has been growing concern that the elections will be held but that 'stuntmen' without ideology and principles will confuse the minds of voters.

Bharatpur Mayor Renu Dahal is the daughter of Pushpa Kamal. Even though she was elected mayor for the second time, she is now running for federal parliament.

As the time for candidate registration approaches, Dahal, who came to inaugurate the administrative building, warned that the country could fall into disaster again if he follows the unprincipled. There is talk of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) fielding Sovita Gautam, previously elected from Kathmandu, against Renu Dahal, who is preparing to contest the election from Chitwan-3. The Bharatpur Metropolitan Committee of the RSWP had also issued a statement protesting the rush to inaugurate the administrative building before it was even completed.

During his speech, leader Dahal did not name any party or individual, but he said at the beginning, "Some people may have been greedy after seeing the development here. There may have been various exercises to see if Bharatpur could be brought under their influence by not being able to develop in their own place and area." He said that the society does not want sacrifice, ideas, and principles, but there is a growing trend of confusing people's minds by performing stunts on social media.

‘Nowadays, you have seen the process of people being fooled by stunts on social media, where no thought is needed, no principle is needed, no long series of sacrifice and penance is needed. Sometimes, I am worried that people’s minds will be confused by such stuntmen,’ Dahal said. He commented that on Bhadra 24, the country was like ashes due to such stuntmen and that it was not due to any thought, principle or ideal.

‘If we are not careful now, the country may fall into disaster again if we follow the noise of the unprincipled, thoughtless, idealless and dishonest,’ Dahal said. He said that even if the question of what will happen in the election after the special general convention of the Nepali Congress and the division of the Congress arises in everyone’s mind, it will not disrupt the election process. Saying that it is good and pleasant for a major party to split at such a time, it will happen, he said that there is no option now but to facilitate and move the process forward.

‘I even talked to some government ministers after that, I understood with the Election Commission, I also tried to understand with the security forces. The answer from all sides is that it will not affect the election process. The government is also firm – the election will not be affected. Let’s see – by tomorrow, there will be a resolution on the Nepali Congress dispute regarding official status and the dispute over the election symbol. The government seems committed to moving forward with the process. Other parties are also committed,’ said Dahal.

Dahal himself laid the foundation stone of Bharatpur’s new administrative building on Chaitra 11, 2078 BS. Mayor Renu Dahal said that the federal government spent Rs 215.814 million on the six-story building built on seven acres of land, Rs 198.936 million from the Bagmati Province government and Rs 45 million from the Metropolitan City, totaling Rs 533.241 million.
