A team led by Gagan Thapa, the president elected by the Congress special general convention, has reached the Election Commission demanding official recognition.

On Friday afternoon, the Thapa-led team reached the commission demanding a decision on the updated details submitted earlier. Earlier, President Sher Bahadur Deuba's side had also reached there.

The commission stopped Thapa's side at the gate for some time after both groups reached.

On Friday morning, Congress acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka and others had filed a petition with the commission claiming that they were authorized. The commission replied that it would make a decision based on the constitution, the Political Parties Act, the Nepali Congress statute, and the commission's past precedents. After that, Thapa's side reached the commission to pressure it to update the details that they were authorized to.

The Thapa side had filed a petition to update the Central Working Committee on Thursday.
