Gagan Kumar Thapa, who was elected as the President of the Nepali Congress at its special general convention, has urged the Election Commission to take a decision soon.
He said this after submitting a request to the Election Commission to update the details of the party office bearers after the special general convention was held as per the constitution of the Nepali Congress.
The team that reached the Election Commission met the commissioners including Acting Chief Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari and urged them to take a decision soon.
‘We have come to the commission as it needs to be updated as per the provisions of the Political Parties Act,’ Thapa said, ‘We request the Election Commission to take a decision on this as soon as possible.’
He said that the special general convention was held as per the constitution and that all the necessary details were submitted along with it.
The newly elected committee along with legal experts also reached the commission. Senior advocates Harihar Dahal and Yadunath Khanal were in the team. Along with President Thapa, Vice Presidents Bishwa Prakash Sharma, Pushpa Bhusal and other leaders also reached the Election Commission.
