Central member and Rolpa district in-charge Santosh Subedi has joined the Nepali Communist Party, leaving the Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN (Maoist) party.

He was welcomed into the party by party coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal, co-coordinator Madhav Nepal and leader Barshaman Pun.

He is the son of NCP leader and National Assembly member Jhakku Prasad Subedi. After the Maoists split, he joined Santosh Chand. Subedi, who fought in the People's War, defeated the then UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal in the first Constituent Assembly election.
