As the closed session of the special general convention begins, the final push for consensus is also underway in the Congress. Congress leader Min Bishwakarma has said that discussions are underway on the issue of a middle-of-the-road proposal, but no consensus has been reached on it.

According to him, issues such as selecting candidates with the signature of Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka, nominating Gagan Thapa as the future Prime Ministerial candidate from the Congress, changing the list of proportional candidates, accepting the general convention announced in Baisakh, and converting the ongoing special general convention into a policy general convention have been put forward as middle-of-the-road proposals.

Min Bishwakarma said, "I had put forward this proposal a few days ago, but no consensus had been reached on it. Efforts to find consensus on this issue are still ongoing."

In a conversation with Kantipur, some leaders, including Shekhar Koirala, Ramesh Lekhak, Min Bishwakarma, and Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, appeared flexible on the middle-of-the-road proposal, but other top leaders did not seem ready to accept it. They said that leaders including Krishna Sitaula, Bimalendra Nidhi, Shashank Koirala, Prakashman Singh, Vijay Kumar Gachhadar, Prakash Sharan Mahat, Bal Krishna Khand, NP Saud did not agree with this proposal. They also said that these leaders are persuading President Sher Bahadur Deuba to move forward by facing it since the President can only be removed by a two-thirds vote.

Congress leader Shekhar Koirala has also been in discussions with his group leaders since morning. He has continued to consult with his group's office bearers, central members and district presidents. According to Joint General Secretary Jeevan Pariyar, close to Koirala, it has also been decided to hold talks between Shekhar Koirala and President Deuba. According to Pariyar, Koirala is trying to talk to the two General Secretaries, but due to time constraints, discussions have not been held on how to move forward.

Leaders close to Koirala are putting intense pressure on him to go to the special general convention. But Pariyar said that a decision on whether to go ahead or not will be made only after the destination of the special general convention is clear after talking to the general secretaries.
