The Progressive Democratic Party (PRALOP) has recommended Baburam Bhattarai as its candidate from both constituencies of Gorkha.

The Pralopa district committee meeting held on Saturday recommended Bhattarai, who is also the party's patron, as a candidate from both constituencies. Bhattarai's name is at the top of the list of candidate recommendations from both constituencies.

Pralopa district in-charge Yan Prasad Bhatta said that Bhattarai, along with Sharada Prasad Dhital, Baburam Nepali, Arjun Pant and Sadhuram Nepali, have been recommended from constituency number 1. Similarly, Bhattarai, along with Baburam Shrestha, Parshuram Pokharel and Sanu Gurung, have been recommended from constituency number 2.

Bhattarai's name has been recommended from both constituencies to make it easier for him to contest elections from one of the two constituencies in Gorkha,  Bhatta said.

A few days ago, speaking on Kantipur Television's program ' Fireside', Bhattarai had said, 'Now, Genji has come as a new generation. It is my well-considered opinion that they should be taken forward. I will no longer do active power politics. I will not stand for candidacy. I will not be a candidate in the election.'

Bhatta says that even if he does not contest the elections, they are saying that he should contest the elections from the district and the province. ‘We have pressured him to contest the elections because he has a vision, can clearly state his views in the parliament and can also be the guardian of the parliament,’ he said.

Similarly, Dinesh Babu Joshi, Indira Bastakoti, Mahesh Gurung, Narayani Adhikari and Lal Bahadur BK are on the proportional closed list from Gorkha, Bhatta also informed.
