”Yesterday, when Janardan was in power, he used to work in a rather arrogant manner. That is not the case now. The party headquarters works in close relations with you (the people of Rukumeli), rest assured.”

Nepali Communist Party (NCP) coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal has accused former colleague Janardan Sharma of being a 'fugitive' for fleeing the movement.

Addressing a party unity message meeting held in Musikot Khalanga, the district headquarters of Rukum West, on Saturday, he made the accusation against Sharma, who formed the Progressive Democratic Party (Pralopa) instead of joining the NCP formed after the unity.

After the former CPN (Maoist Center) merged with various parties and constituents including the Unified Socialists and transformed into the CPN (Maoist Center), the meeting was held for the first time in Rukum West in the presence of its coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal and co-coordinator Madhav Nepal. Sharma, the then Deputy General Secretary of the Maoist Center and who has been winning elections from this constituency in all general elections since 2064, is carrying out political activities through Pralopa instead of joining the NCP formed after the unity.

Recalling the speech he had made before Janardan Sharma when he came to Rukum earlier, the chief guest of the meeting said, “Even before Janardan, some leaders had separated from the party. But the people remained with them.” This time he left, but the people of Rukumeli are with him.' He also said that reactionaries and imperialists have a hand in Janardan Sharma not coming to unity.

Dahal also expressed his commitment to keep the party headquarters closer to the people of Rukumeli. 'Yesterday, when Janardan was there, it used to work in a rather open manner. Now that will not happen. The party headquarters will work with close relations with you, rest assured.' Dahal has also announced that he will contest the upcoming election from Rukum East.

NCP co-coordinator Madhav Nepal also said that the atmosphere is building in their favor across the country and made a comment targeting Janardan, saying, 'Youth training can be said to a cow going to the hills, but it cannot be supported.'

A month ago, Pralopa had also organized a program called 'Youth Training' in the presence of Sharma in the district headquarters, Khalanga. The party has also accelerated the work of expanding the organization from the establishment of offices to the village level. It is not difficult to understand that both sides are competing to show their strength.

In the upcoming election, the NCP has recommended Purva Karnali Province MP and Minister Gopal Sharma as its candidate from Rukum West, while Pralopa has already decided to field Janardan Sharma. Two colleagues who were seen in the same organization and on the same platform until some time ago are going to compete.

The proposed candidate Sharma claimed that his and his party's victory is assured. He also made a public appeal to support him this time, saying that he had supported Janardan in the previous elections. He has also urged Janardan to return to the NCP.
