The UML has directed its lower committee to mobilize, considering the House of Representatives elections as a movement.
As per the decision of the Central Secretariat's meeting on Tuesday, the criteria and process for recommending potential candidates for the direct election have been set. Instructions have been issued to recommend the names of potential candidates for the direct election from the district by specifying the criteria.
The criteria for candidates who are popular with party workers and the public, committed to party policies and decisions, capable and capable of playing an effective role on behalf of the party in the House of Representatives, and not a person who has been declared ineligible by the election law have been determined.
In the case of districts with more than one House of Representatives constituency, the district and provincial committees are required to submit their opinions on the recommendations made by the House of Representatives Constituency Coordination Committee, and the recommendations received from the district committees are to reach the party central office by the 24th, as mentioned in the internal party directive.
'Based on the recommendations and opinions received, the party central committee will make the final decision regarding the candidates, taking into account the larger interests of the party and the national political situation,' it is stated in the directive.
The UML, which is demanding the restoration of parliament, has directed to take the election as a front for the movement. "In a situation where the country is engaged in elections, it is necessary for the entire party to mobilize in the elections with an agitating mindset. A policy of moving forward will be adopted based on the evaluation of the role played by the party's leaders and cadres in the elections," the UML directive states. "It has been decided that nominations, formation of the Politburo and Standing Committee, and overall division of work will be done after the elections are completed. The committees at the relevant levels will have to review the elections within 1 month of the elections and send their reports to the central office."
