House of Representatives election: UML candidates recommended from all 10 constituencies in Kathmandu

The UML has continued to recommend candidates across the country for the House of Representatives elections to be held on 21 Falgun, and has already recommended candidates from all 10 constituencies in Kathmandu.

According to UML Kathmandu District President Deepak Niraula, the names of aspiring candidates have been recommended for all 10 constituencies in Kathmandu district. He said that the district committee, along with the names received from the election regional committee, has recommended the names of those candidates to the provincial committee in the capital.

UML has already directed the district committee to send the names to the provincial committee for the election by Poush 24 (today). UML Kathmandu has recommended the names of more than one candidate in all constituencies except constituencies no. 2 and 8. Maniraj Phunyal has been recommended in constituency no. 2 and Rajesh Shakya has been recommended in constituency no. 8.

According to Niraula, eight names including Mohan Regmi, Sharmila Karki and Saroj Dhakal have been recommended in Kathmandu-1, six names including Rameshwor Phunyal and Krishna Rai have been recommended in constituency no. 3, and 13 names including Secretary Rajan Bhattarai have been recommended in constituency no. 4.

In Constituency No. 5, eight people including leader Ishwar Pokharel, 12 people including central members Aman Kumar Maskey and Prakash Adhikari have been recommended as candidates in Constituency No. 7, 11 people including central vice-chairman Raghuji Pant in Constituency No. 9, seven people including central members Krishna Gopal Shrestha and Dr. Ajay Kranti Shakya in Constituency No. 9, and seven people including central member Binod Shrestha in Constituency No. 10.

The UML Secretariat meeting held on Tuesday formally decided to contest the election and formed a manifesto drafting and election mobilization committee. The Secretariat, under the coordination of party Chairman KP Sharma Oli, has formed an election manifesto drafting committee comprising vice-chairmen Ram Bahadur Thapa, Bishnu Poudel, general secretary Shankar Pokharel, leaders Ishwar Pakheral, Pradeep Gyawali, and member secretary Bishnu Rimal.

Similarly, the election campaign committee is coordinated by Vice-Chairman Ram Bahadur Thapa and its members are Chhabilal Bishwakarma, Rajan Bhattarai, Hikmat Karki, Ramesh Badal, Min Bahadur Shahi and Bhishma Adhikari. UML has also appointed a provincial in-charge to run the election campaign.
