The NCP is preparing to field its own candidate, saying that the Congress-UML has formed an alliance only in the National Assembly. During discussions between the Congress-UML and the NCP on Tuesday, an agreement was reached on forming an alliance.

But after the NCP claimed four seats, the Congress-UML said that it could only give three seats.

Dissatisfied with that, the NCP is preparing to field candidates for all 18 seats, said Govinda Acharya, chief personal secretary of NCP coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal. He said, "The Congress-UML has tried to form an alliance alone. That is why we are preparing to field all the candidates."
