The Progressive Democratic Party (PRALOP) has decided to field Janardan Sharma as its candidate from Rukum West for the upcoming House of Representatives elections.
The party meeting held in the district headquarters Musikot on Wednesday recommended Sharma as the sole candidate. Informing that the party has recommended Sharma as the candidate from Rukum West, Pralopa Rukum West leader Dal Bahadur Khadka said that the party will now focus on election activities. The House of Representatives elections are being held on Falgun 21.
Sharma has been winning consistently from the former Maoists in all elections since 2064. Recently, after various parties united with the Maoist Center to form the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Sharma has formed a separate party, Pralopa, and become its patron.
The NCP, on the other hand, has recommended the name of Gopal Sharma, a former Maoist leader and former colleague of Janardan, from Rukum West.
Parties including Congress and UML have also finalized the names of their candidates. The Nepali Congress has recommended Gopaljijang Shah and Prem Prakash Oli, who is also the district president, while the UML has recommended Nandaram Devkota, who is also the district president, and the Maoists have recommended Chandra Bahadur Budha as candidates.
