Former citizen Laxman Kishore Chaudhary, a member of the Sudurpaschim Province Assembly elected from Naupa, participated in the political adjustment meeting organized by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Monday. The announcer also mentioned MP Chaudhary's name in the list of those who will be socialized in the RSS.
Chaudhary, who was seen lined up on the stage with party president Ravi Lamichhane and other key leaders, on Tuesday claimed that he had not joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
‘As many of our friends from the Dhakiya were about to join, I also went to the adjustment meeting to see. It is true that I ended up standing on the stage with the leaders because the announcer suddenly read out my name,’ Laxman Kishore said. ‘I had gone to meet Minister Kulman Ghising to discuss development projects in the constituency. But Kulman was not present in the meeting.’
He said that he was preparing to publicly refute the publicity surrounding his joining the RSS.
‘The term of the provincial MP is still two years away, why take the stress,’ said the elected member from Kailali constituency number 1 (2). Chaudhary is an MP who has been embroiled in controversies in the past. Earlier, when he was the Minister of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, he resigned on the instructions of Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah after the audio of the financial transaction was made public. After receiving information that MP Chaudhary had left the party by participating in the adjustment meeting of another party, former NAUPA chairperson Ranjita Shrestha had started preparing for action against him. NAUPA has now merged with the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) under the coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
However, the Election Commission has not been updated. Article 180 (e) of the Constitution states that if the party from which the candidate was elected notifies that the MP has left the party in accordance with federal law, such MP will be removed from office.
