The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has nominated Surendra Bajgain's name in Lalitpur Constituency No. 1 for the House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21. Bajgain, a permanent resident of Mahankal Rural Municipality-4, Kaleshwor, is currently an advisor to Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah.
He is working in the fields of education, health, social, environment and disaster management in the Metropolitan City Planning Commission.
Initially, Bajgain's name was also proposed in the party's proportional closed list, but it was removed after he expressed his desire to be a direct candidate. His name was put forward in proportional from the Balendra Secretariat and the Gen-G group.
When the search for a direct candidate in Lalitpur-1 was conducted, Surendra near Balendra was found to be the most suitable person, his name was withdrawn from the proportional list, said a leader of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) near Balen.
Lalitpur Constituency No. 1 has been dominated by candidates from outside the constituency since 2048 BS. Keshar Bahadur Bista, Barshaman Pun, Uday Shamsher Rana, Nawaraj Silwal, among others, had been winning in this constituency. In the 2079 BS elections, Uday Shamsher Rana of the Nepali Congress had won in this constituency.
Bajgain said that although they won due to the political party's strength, access to the center, and national-level recognition, they were running for office because local issues and needs were not prioritized.
