The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) central office in Parisdanda is currently in the process of recommending direct candidates for the House of Representatives elections.
Central Office Chief Secretary Ganeshman Pun said that the process of receiving direct candidate recommendations from the districts is continuing. 'Direct candidate recommendations are coming from the districts,' he said, 'the candidate selection process will begin after recommendations are received from all the districts.'
Among the recommendations, the recommendation of coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal has come from 9 districts with the highest number. He was elected from Gorkha-2 in the last general election, but the district and constituency from which he will be a candidate this time has not been decided. He is looking for a safe constituency this time. Since his daughter Renu Dahal has only recommended him from Chitwan-3, he is looking for other constituencies.
After former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai prepares to stand from Gorkha-2, Dahal is looking for a constituency to win the election. According to NCP leaders, Rukum East is considered the safest constituency for Dahal. So far, no candidate from other parties has won the election to the House of Representatives from Rukum.
So far Dahal's recommended districts for the House of Representatives are Kalikot, Nuwakot-1, Sindhuli-2, Ramechhap, Mahottari-4, Gorkha-1, Rolpa, Rukum East and Kailali-3 in the Far West. Kaski-3 is Dahal's birthplace. He was born in Levade of Annapurna Rural Municipality and migrated to Chitwan.
He was elected from Kathmandu-10 and Rolpa-2 in the Constituent Assembly elections held in 2064 BS. He was elected from Siraha-5 in the second Constituent Assembly elections held in Mangsir, 2070 BS, but was defeated in Kathmandu-10. In 2074 BS, he won from Chitwan-3. In the 2079 BS general elections, he won from Gorkha-2.
NCP co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal has been recommended for the upcoming representative elections from Rautahat-1 alone and Kathmandu-2.
NCP leaders Bhim Rawal has been recommended from Achham-2, Barshaman Pun from Rolpa, Bamdev Gautam from Pyuthan and Bardiya-1, Narayan Kaji Shrestha from Sarlahi-3, Dev Gurung from Lamjung, and Prakash Jwala from Salyan.
NCP spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota said that the candidates have not been finalized. “Senior leaders including the chairman have been recommended from various places. But there is still time to finalize the constituency,” he said.
