CPN-UML leader Pradeep Gyawali contested only for the position of central member at the UML general convention held a few days ago. He had won the election for central member by a large margin and was aspiring for the position of general secretary.

After Shankar Pokharel was re-elected as the general secretary from the Oli faction, he was made the vice-chairman. However, he refused to give up the powerful general secretary post and contest the election for the vice-chairman. After that, he only filed his candidacy for the central member post.

Expressing his opinion at a press conference organized by Press Chaitari Gulmi on Sunday, leader Gyawali said that his only focus was on strengthening the UML. 'If I had contested the election independently, the result could have been in my favor as the general secretary,' he said, 'I paved the way for strengthening the party instead of paving the way for that.'

He also said that during the UML general convention, his photos were created using AI to create confusion. He then again said that the party's problems would be small in the face of the crisis of the entire nation. He said, 'The aspirations of an individual in the mission of strengthening the party are even smaller.'

He said that in the context of Gulmi, work is being done on his initiative from the initial ready section of three strategic road infrastructures in Gulmi and that follow-up is being done. He said that the work on the Kaligandaki Corridor, the Madanbhandari Highway section, and the Ridi-Kharjang-Balkote section are also being accelerated. However, he also commented that his constituency, Gulmi-1, has lost three years of development due to various reasons.

He said that the country is in crisis and that the parties that protect democracy and those who played a role in making the current constitution should be together. He said that the country's crisis should not be a matter of electoral coordination and seat sharing, but a solution.
