There has been an increase in the number of people included in the proportional candidate list of the National Independent Party (NISP).

Mountaineer Tasi Lakpa Sherpa, singer Trishala Gurung, actor and television presenter Asif Shah, and industrialist Chandra Dhakal's son Sachin Dhakal, who were included in the proportional closed list for the House of Representatives elections, have announced their withdrawal of candidacy.

The proportional closed list submitted by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to the Election Commission also included famous faces from various fields. There was growing criticism within and outside the party over nepotism and family ties. Against this backdrop, the four have said that they have decided to remove their names from the list.

Asif Shah

Shah, who is number 1 in the proportional list of the Muslim male cluster, announced his withdrawal of candidacy through social media. He mentioned that he removed his name from the list respecting public sentiment and the reaction from the party ranks. He wrote on Facebook on Saturday, 'I cannot choose the path of becoming an MP through the proportional list by hurting the sentiments of the people and party friends.'

Shah, who is interested in politics but will not immediately enter active party politics, has expressed his desire to contest from Kathmandu-5 in the upcoming direct elections. He has also said that he is determined to contest through direct elections.

Sachin Dhakal

Dhakal is the president of Football Chitwan Club (FC Chitwan). He is involved in sports as well as tourism and hospitality business. He was included in the proportional list by the Rashtrapati Bhavan. He was included in the list from the quota of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah. His name is on the number 2 list of Khas Arya.

Mayor Shah had also spoken to Dhakal during a series of meetings before merging with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Dhakal informed that he had withdrawn his candidacy this morning via Facebook. 'In the current environment where social transformation and development of the country through the promotion of entrepreneurship are necessary and young people are stepping forward for this, I express my heartfelt gratitude to the party leadership for including me in the proportional election list,' he said. 'However, respecting the essence and recognition of the proportional election system provided by the Constitution of Nepal, I would like to inform you that this time I have decided to withdraw my name from the list due to personal reasons.'

He also expressed his commitment that he is always ready to shoulder political responsibility in the interest of the nation and society in the coming days.

Trishala Gurung

Singer and doctor Dr. Trishala Gurung has also decided to withdraw her name from the proportional closed list. She said that although it was a great honor to receive the recommendation, she withdrew her name because she had come to the conclusion that she would not seek political office after self-evaluation. She wrote on Facebook, 'I am committed to contributing to the community through artistry and health services. Even when I am not in a political office, I will continue to work as a voice of society.'

Tasi Lakpa Sherpa

Mountaineer Tasi Lakpa Sherpa, who is also the CEO of Fortin Peaks Expedition, announced his withdrawal of candidacy on Facebook on Poush 17. Stating that he is not interested in party politics, he wrote, 'I want to contribute to the country through my own deeds. I will play a role in the progress of the nation as an ordinary citizen.'

Sherpa also wished all parties and eligible candidates for the upcoming elections. Tasi is the brother of Tasi Mingma Sherpa, who recently joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Mingma had formally joined the RSSS only a few days ago. A video was also made public in which brother Tasi wished his brother success in his political journey.
