What you should know
Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal has claimed that there is no possibility of forming an all-party and all-aligned government in the country.
Making it clear that there will be no restoration of the parliament, he said that the only option for the current political solution is elections. Speaking at a press meet organized by the Press Center in Khandbari on Saturday, Dahal stressed that all political parties should now focus on the elections. He claimed that the elections to the House of Representatives will be held on Falgun 21 itself. He said that the elections will be held by this government.
Dahal has objected to the recent doubts and confusion that have been spread about the possibility of holding elections. He said that there is no need to doubt that the elections will not be held as all parties have submitted their closed lists for the proportional system. 'The entire election process has moved forward, there is no basis for stopping the elections now,' he said.
He pointed out the need to form the House of Representatives with a new mandate from the people and said that the solution to the current political crisis would also be possible through that path. Speaking in the context of constitutional amendment, he clarified that necessary amendments would be made to the issues related to identity, the system of a directly elected president, and the current electoral system after the elections. "The constitution will be made more refined and practical based on the public opinion received after the election," he said.
Dahal claimed that the young generation, especially the 'Genji', is also in favor of the election, saying that elections are indispensable to strengthen democratic practices. He expressed his commitment to move forward in the direction of political stability, prosperity and inclusive democracy by making the election successful.
Dahal and co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal had come to Khandbari to participate in the NCP's unity declaration program.
