Basudev Ghimire, a leader of the CPN-UML and outgoing member of the House of Representatives from Rupandehi-5, has announced that he has left the UML.
Ghimire announced on social media on Tuesday night that he was no longer in charge of the party he was affiliated with. He was also the former mayor of Tilottama Municipality and was defeated as a central member in the 11th general convention of the UML.
He wrote a status on social media and announced that he was no longer in charge of the party he was affiliated with from today, saying that the main leadership of the old political parties was not in a position to address the wishes and desires of the general public of the country.
‘Now the general public wants good governance, development, prosperity as well as leadership transfer, generational change and transformation,’ he wrote, ‘Addressing the needs of the country, the pace of history, and the expectations of the general public is the main task at the moment. Unwavering loyalty to the country, good governance, development and prosperity are essential conditions for politics. Since the main leadership of the old parties is not in a position to address the wishes and desires of the general public of the country, I have been separated from the responsibilities of the party I am involved in from today.'
He said that he received a proposal from the National Independent Party to join the party, and although the proposal was positive, a decision has not been reached. He has also expressed his commitment to always be with everyone with honesty and integrity in the campaign to move the country forward on the journey of prosperity with good governance, development, and employment.
According to RSVP sources, he is in discussions to contest the election from Rupandehi-2. UML Vice President Bishnu Poudel has been contesting the election from Rupandehi-2.
