Unity between NCP and NAUPA

The Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and the Civil Liberation Party (CLP) are set to merge. On Monday, an agreement was reached between CLP coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal, co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal, and the chairperson of the Civil Liberation Party (CLP) and Ranjita Shrestha regarding the party unification.

 As per the agreement, after the merger of the two parties, the name of the party will be Nepali Communist Party and the election symbol will be Tara  To objectively review the strengths and weaknesses of the party and various state bodies in the past while carrying out responsibilities, correct the shortcomings, and move forward in the direction of socialism through federalism, good governance, prosperity, and social justice. 2. To continue to struggle from all three spheres, from the streets, the parliament, and the government, to achieve the strategic goal of achieving a federal socialist republic with identity and rights while protecting the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the country.

3. To take the initiative and lead the work of building an egalitarian, just, and non-discriminatory society, including the federal system of governance, democratic values, class, caste, regional, and gender discrimination, and to adopt socialism with Nepali characteristics as the party's program, and to be committed to the socio-economic transformation of the country on that basis.

4. To operate the party in accordance with the organizational system of democratic centralism, adopting collective leadership and inclusive representation, and federalism.

5. After the unification of the Nepali Communist Party and the Civil Liberties Party, the name of the party will be the Nepali Communist Party and the election symbol will be the star. The people's representatives elected at the federal, provincial and local levels by both parties will automatically be members of the Nepali Communist Party.

6. All the former committees and mass organizations in the organizational structure of the Civil Liberties Party, including the Central Committee, will be integrated into the Nepali Communist Party on the basis of mutual consent.

7. While protecting and strengthening the positive aspects of the current Constitution of Nepal, take the initiative to amend and make progressive amendments to the Constitution in the supreme interest of the nation, based on the feelings of the younger generation, including the form of government, electoral system, and strengthening of the federal structure.

8. To ensure proportional inclusion of marginalized classes and communities including women, Tharu, Madhesi, indigenous peoples, Khas, Dalits, Muslims, backward classes, minority communities, disadvantaged classes, and backward areas, who are politically, economically, socially, and culturally excluded or marginalized, in all organs, levels, and bodies of the state.

9. To take initiatives to build a national force for socialist revolution by emphasizing the unity of the working class and oppressed communities of the country

10. To take initiatives to dismiss false cases filed against any person on the basis of retaliation in connection with the Tikapur incident and to make the report of the Red Commission public.
