The Congress is going to select proportional candidates on a 60/40 basis between the establishment and other parties.
According to a Congress leader, the establishment party has allocated 60 percent and 40 percent to the General Secretary Gagan Thapa and leader Shekhar Koirala group within the other party. There are also various subgroups within the establishment party.
Among the former office bearers, Prakash Man Singh, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Bimalendra Nidhi and Shashank Koirala have run their own groups. Their intense pressure to bring people from their groups to the proportional system is within the establishment party.
Meanwhile, there are separate groups between General Secretary Thapa and the Koirala party in the other party. There is competition between them to keep their own people. Only after finalizing the rough list at the informal level, the Central Work Performance Committee is preparing to meet and approve it. After that, the Congress plans to go to the Election Commission.
This time, the Congress has made a policy of not fielding candidates who have already been elected to the proportional system. Even those who are provincial MPs and those on the provincial proportional list will not be allowed to be candidates.
Previously, there was public discontent over allegations that former Foreign Minister Arju Rana, former Home Minister Balkrishna Khand's wife Manju Khand, party spokesperson Prakasharan Mahat, and former Deputy Chairman Bimalendra Nidhi had 'captured' seats on the proportional side.
