The first secretariat meeting after the 11th National General Convention of the UML has begun. The meeting began at the party's central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur.
The meeting mainly has the agenda of finalizing the closed list of candidates for the upcoming House of Representatives elections.
The Election Commission has set the last date for submitting the closed list of proportional candidates today, so the meeting is discussing it on priority, according to party sources.
A short list has been prepared based on the names recommended by the district and provincial levels, and preparations are underway to submit it to the commission after making a final decision in today's meeting.
The meeting is said to also discuss issues such as party office management, the current political situation, and a briefing on the discussions held by Chairman KP Sharma Oli with the Prime Minister. Since this is the first secretariat meeting of the new leadership elected by the general convention, it is being viewed with special importance.
