The central committee meeting of the National Independent Party (NISP) has approved a proposal to unite with Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah.

According to General Secretary Kavindra Burlakoti, a special meeting held on Sunday discussed and approved the agreement on comprehensive unity between the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Shah.

‘The Central Committee expresses its commitment to fully implement the agreement on comprehensive unity with the expectation that the country will break the web of corruption, injustice and misrule prevalent in the country by adhering to the agreement, which reflects great courage, sacrifice and hope for the national interest, and establish a situation with good governance, prosperity, democracy and social justice,’ he said.

After talks that lasted for 7 hours on Saturday night, it was agreed between the two leaders to stand together, making Balendra Shah the head of government and Ravi Lamichhane the president.
