Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel has met with UML Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Minister Kharel met with Oli at his private residence in Gundu, Bhaktapur on Friday morning.

According to the Secretariat of the Minister of Communications, the meeting took place as per the scheduled program. Earlier, Kharel had met Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba at his residence in Maharajgunj.

He is scheduled to meet NCP coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal in Khumaltar on Friday. It is said that the meeting discussed preparations for the upcoming election, creating an environment for the election, and political consensus.

The government has made efforts to express its commitment to making the election free, fair, and fearless by meeting the top leaders of the three major parties separately. The issue of the travel ban imposed on Oli outside the Kathmandu Valley by the Gen-G Movement Investigation Commission was also raised in the discussion.

Earlier, the government team had also given positive signals about participation in the election and flexibility in the restrictions while inspecting the UML central office in Chyasal. UML has committed to participating in the election if the environment is created to participate.

The government has said that it has taken this meeting as an effort for national consensus. This meeting is expected to reduce the political tension at the time and move the election process forward.
