CPN-Maoist General Secretary Netra Bikram Chand has said that demonetization should be done to legalize black money. In a meeting of the central committee that began on Thursday, he said that demonetization should be done to make black money acceptable among the people.

Chand says that Nepal should ban 500 and 1000 rupee notes. He says that new notes of 200, 400 and 2000 rupees can be introduced in its place. He also said that a high-level investigation commission should be formed to control corruption.

Chand also asserted that the current government is unable to hold elections. He says that the need of the day is to form an all-party government to hold elections when the morale of all police and employees is low.

This is what Chand said

We have four main proposals. An all-party government should be formed. A high-level investigation commission on corruption should be formed. A high-level court should be formed. There should not be a situation where the court appeals to the Supreme Court. That should be the final decision.

The assets of the corrupt should be nationalized and they should be sentenced to life imprisonment. That is a secondary issue, but a commission should be formed to investigate in an impartial manner.

Then there is the matter of demonetization. If black money is to be turned into white, and made acceptable to the people, then we believe that the five hundred and one thousand rupee notes should be demonetized and scrapped, and new notes of two hundred and four hundred rupees should also be introduced into circulation. Maybe even two thousand rupees.
