The Labor Culture Party led by Hark Sampang is recently moving to the left. However, a series of controversies are gradually recurring in this 'baby party'.
Sampang, who suspended Vice President Devraj Lama, who was involved in the bomb scandal, only on Wednesday, made public on Monday evening through a press release that another Vice President Dr. Mitra Pariyar has also been suspended. The incident of Pariyar's suspension is currently going viral on social media.
As Sampang mentioned in the release, there are two main reasons for suspending Pariyar.
First, making public statements against the organizing team in a vulgar manner contrary to the code of conduct at a public meeting held in Butwal on Poush 5. Second, using insulting words against District Co-Coordinator Keshav Keshav Neupane.
The second reason is not public. However, according to the first reason, did Pariyar really make statements contrary to the party code of conduct or did he question the party? It has been claimed that he spoke against the party's instructions and insulted the organizing team while speaking at the Butwal general meeting.
Dalit activist Pariyar was nominated as the vice-chairman by the central committee meeting held in Kathmandu in the last week of November.
What happened at the Butwal general meeting?
Pariyar has stated that he reached Butwal two days before the general meeting on Poush 5. He has also claimed that he worked hard to make the meeting a success. However, he objected to the organizing team for not allowing him to speak at the meeting. He said from the stage, 'I am the central vice-chairman. I should also be allowed to speak. The focus should not be diverted to the end. Is it a sin to say this? Is it a crime?'
After seeing his reaction, Chairman Sampang left the stage, came down and started taking photos with supporters. Pariyar tried to stop him and said in a stern voice, ‘Stop it now, can you stop it for now?’ The party took Pariyar’s statement as a challenge to the decision, schedule and management of the organizing team. That common reason became the reason for the suspension.
‘All members of the Shram Sanskriti Party are workers. According to the party’s core philosophy, one should not neglect or insult others under the guise of position or power,’ the statement said. ‘The party has suspended Pariyar, considering that Pariyar’s behavior is contrary to the equality of membership and leadership.’
After the suspension, Pariyar made his opinion public on social media. He said, ‘Whether intentionally or unintentionally, the organizer insulted me.’ They will not know how to arrange the schedule.'
Party Chairman Sampang had publicly clarified on November 16 that the party's basic principle of labor culture is 'Harkism'. According to this philosophy, social, economic and political development is possible only on the basis of labor, labor donation and equality. Only through labor can the end of scarcity, poverty, discrimination and the resulting conflict, destruction and unrest be possible.
According to this view, party leaders or members are not allowed to insult others or behave against discipline under the guise of their position. Sampang has said, 'No leader or cadre in the party can insult other members by showing arrogance that they are a member of the central committee. It is essential to maintain equality, discipline and organizational integrity within the party.'
When asked to understand this issue, Party Chairman Sampang did not answer his phone. Party spokesperson Satya Ghale Gurung clarified that disciplinary action has been taken for speaking against the party code of conduct and abusing district co-coordinator Keshav Neupane at a meeting in Butwal. He said, "The suspension has only been imposed, and the action will be lifted if he apologizes."
