RPP Nepal party chairman Kamal Thapa has been recommended for the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on February 21 from Kathmandu constituency no. 5 and Banke 2.

The regional working committee meeting of RPP Nepal Kathmandu-5 held today recommended Thapa's single name, informed Regional Chairman Santosh Adhikari. 

The meeting has recommended the names of Jayakumar Khadka, Arjun Nepali and Sunita Kurungwang in proportional representation.

Similarly, Thapa's name has been unanimously recommended from Banke Constituency No. 2, informed the party's General Secretary Rajaram Bartaula.

The party's regional working committee has recommended the names of  candidates from across the country, according to the party's central secretariat. 

Thapa, who became a candidate under the UML's election symbol in 2079, came third in Makawanpur-1. RPP's Deepak Bahadur Singh won in Makawanpur-1. Singh received 27,816,000 votes. His nearest rival, the ruling coalition's candidate Dina, received 25,423 votes.

Thapa received 25,420 votes. The RPP won in Hetauda after 28 years. In the 2051 BS election, the then RPP candidate Kamal Thapa had won by defeating UML's Krishna Dahal.
