Elections must be held on Falgun 21: General Secretary Thapa

Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa has said that elections should be held on March 21. At a rally organized in Kathmandu on Monday morning, General Secretary Thapa said that elections should be held under any circumstances.

'Elections need to be held on Falgun 21, the constitution has gone off track, out of line. Elections are also needed to bring it back on track,' he said. Similarly, General Secretary Thapa said that parties should not get confused by predicting what the results will be. He further said, 'We should not get stuck on whether it will be favorable or unfavorable for the Congress. Our job is to make the election results favorable to us.'

He also said that all problems will not be solved by elections alone. He said that the partisanship and corruption in institutions in Nepal should be eradicated from the roots. 'Will elections alone solve the problem? Parliament existed in the past. The government formed from parliament existed in the past. Now, the deep dissatisfaction of society is misrule. Now, we must move forward to take Nepal out of misrule. For that, we must move forward by apologizing. Not only should we not partisanize institutions, but we must stop it. The Congress must work to maintain the sanctity of these institutions,' he said.

He said that the Congress general convention is not just an internal matter of the party. He also claimed that he will contest for the presidency in the 15th general convention and become the president.
