Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Anil Kumar Sinha has said that a study has been initiated to maintain uniformity in the format, language and wording of lawmaking.

Speaking at a joint meeting of the Legislative Management and Public Policy and Delegated Committees under the National Assembly held today, he said that upon assuming office, he had decided to maintain a simple and uniform legal language that everyone can understand.

Expressing the view that if the implementation of laws can be facilitated, good governance and the rule of law can be guaranteed, Minister Sinha said that it takes time to formulate laws as words and language have to be scrutinized meticulously.

Secretary of the Ministry, Parashwar Dhungana, informed that work is underway to advance the drafts of 121 laws proposed by the previous government. He said that since the Legislation Act, 2081 was issued in the first week of Chaitra, there is a mandatory provision to publish the delegated legislation specified within one year from that date, and he expects the cooperation of all stakeholders in this regard.
