The candidates from Ishwor Pokharel's group were defeated in the UML general convention. However, they have expressed their satisfaction that they have succeeded to some extent in returning the party to democratic methods.

In the 10th general convention, Oli had first announced the office bearers and central members in Sauraha, stating the list of consensus. Those who disagreed with it were asked to come to the election. This time, except for some consensus, elections were held for the posts. This is the reaction of the defeated candidates that the party has returned to the democratic method.

Ishwar Pokharel, who was defeated in the presidency, has said that the issues raised in the general convention should continue. He said, 'I express confidence that the issues raised during the general convention, such as collective leadership in the party in the light of the people's multi-party democracy, party operation according to the method and system, adherence to the principle of 'checks and balances' to run the party correctly and democratically, etc., will continue to be debated and discussed at a new level.' Pokharel said that he will continue to participate in the UML's campaign to build the foundation of patriotic movement, democratic movement and socialism.

Only men won among the five vice-presidents of UML. The only female candidate, Binda Pandey, was defeated. She has been elected as a central member. She said that she was satisfied that democracy had been restored in the party, but the result was natural. "I am a person who has just returned from action, and when the leadership was looking askance, I did not think that the representatives would be in a position to make their decisions with confidence in my case. Even in such a situation, 1,121 representatives (in the central membership) voted with hope and confidence," Pandey said. "The main thing about this general convention is that it has become possible to return the party to a somewhat democratic process. When we went to Sauraha for the 10th general convention, we first announced it and then went into the election process. Now we have been able to take a step on the path that Jabj said." Pandey also said that the other party has been under pressure since the selection of representatives in this general convention. She also said that there is a review of what happened in the various processes of the general convention. Pandey said that the main challenge for the party in the coming days is the upcoming elections and the change in the public's perception of the party.

Bishnu Rimal, who contested for the post of Deputy General Secretary from the Oli group, was defeated. He could not win even as a central member. He has a reaction that the results of participating in the election competition should be accepted. 'After the election competition, you either win or lose. People did not like it and did not vote, they lost. It is an election, someone who got more votes won, someone who got less votes lost,' Rimal said.

Karna Thapa, who was defeated as a candidate for secretary from the Pokharel group, said that the results of the general convention gave Oli the results to take the party forward as he wanted. Thapa, who has been opposing Oli since before Pokharel, said that how the party will move forward in the coming days depends on Oli. 'We must accept the results of the general convention . The practice of taking the leadership by force was trying to be established, we created a situation of competition,' Thapa said, 'The results came as Chairman Oli wanted. The party has gone into democratic practice, but the situation where representatives use discretion in competition is not like it was in the eighth and ninth general conventions.'

Although Oli is popular within the party, the public does not have such a situation, so Thapa believes that we should move forward cautiously. 'The public also has a party, there is no positive opinion of the chairman. In the party, whatever he wants will happen. It depends on him how the chairman will take it in the coming days,' Thapa said.

Thakur Gaire, who was elected as a central member but defeated as secretary, said that the necessary democratic practice and expectations in the party have been fulfilled to some extent. 'There was an expectation and demand for democratic practice in the party, that situation was created. A discussion is needed on how this practice can be further strengthened in the coming days,' Gaire said, 'Overall, a good democratic practice was carried out. We will correct some shortcomings at our level. The general convention representatives should also review what role they played when they returned to the district.' He expects a review to be held on whether the collective leadership sought by the cadres and well-wishers was able to be selected.

Usha Kiran Timsina, who was defeated in the membership election, said that the current situation is fine in the dispute over whether the party should change or not. She said, 'There was a dispute in the party about whether we should change or not. The general convention decided that whatever is is fine.'
