Oli panel dominates among 19 UML office bearers, only two from Pokharel's side elected

Oli panel dominates among 19 UML office bearers, only two from Pokharel's side elected

KP Sharma Oli has been elected as the UML President for the third time. The Oli faction is also dominant among the office bearers.

Only two candidates from the Ishwor Pokharel panel, Gokarna Bista (Vice President) and Yogesh Bhattarai (Deputy General Secretary), won from the President.

Three candidates from the Oli panel have been elected as Vice Presidents. One from the Ishwor Pokharel panel and one independent candidate have won as Vice Presidents. Bishnu Poudel and Ram Bahadur Thapa are the two candidates who are repeating as Vice Presidents from the Oli panel. Poudel got 1,675 votes while Thapa got 1,516 votes. Similarly, former Deputy General Secretary Prithvisubba Gurung won the Vice President post by getting popular votes (1,737).

Similarly, Gokarna Bista, who is also a former Secretary, won the Vice President post from the Pokharel group with 1,368 votes. Raghuji Pant, who filed an independent candidacy after not being included in the list of Vice President candidates from the establishment party, also won with 1,258 votes.

Shankar Pokharel from the Oli panel has been elected as the general secretary. He was also the general secretary before. He was elected with 1228 votes. His competitor Surendra Prasad Pandey got 999 votes.

Lekhraj Bhatta and Raghubir Mahaseth from the Oli panel and Yogesh Bhattarai from the Pokharel panel have won the posts of deputy general secretary. Bhatta got 1452 votes, Mahaseth got 1368 votes and Yogesh Bhattarai got 1348 votes.

All the 9 secretaries were elected from the Oli panel. Mahesh Basnet received the most votes.

Basnet got 1544 votes. Similarly, Padmakumari Aryal (1530) is in second place. Chhabilal Bishwakarma was elected as the secretary with 1506 votes, Sherdhan Rai with 1503 votes, Hikmat Kumar Karki with 1337 votes, Khagaraj Adhikari with 1231 votes, Yamalal Kandel with 1185 votes and Rajan Bhattarai (1181 votes). Bhanubhakta Dhakal was also elected as the secretary with 1108 votes.
