Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel has said that work is being done as per the three mandates received by the government after the Gen-G movement, including corruption control, good governance, and elections.
Speaking at a program organized on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of Gorkhapatra Sansthan's English publication The Rising Nepal in Kathmandu on Thursday, he said, 'More than 30 corruption cases have now reached the courts in the past three months and the action is moving forward.'
He said that in the past, cases could not move forward due to influence and pressure, and now the government has created an environment for state bodies to work independently. He said that the bodies under the government have been given freedom and cases related to corruption control are now moving forward with enthusiasm.
Minister for Communications Kharel said that preparations for the election are also in full swing and the government is preparing all kinds of resources, means and manpower to make the election successful. He said that the parties have started the work of recommending candidates, and said, 'We see that almost all political parties have already entered the elections. Some political parties are holding general conventions, are about to do so, and have launched campaigns from village to city.'
Noting that more than 800,000 new voters have enthusiastically registered their voter rolls, he said, "Elections are no longer a celebration, they are becoming a festival. The country has moved forward in the election."
