Nepali Congress Taplejung has directly recommended the name of District Working Committee President Gajendra Prasad Tumyahang for the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on February 21.

For the House of Representatives, the single name of Tumyahang has been recommended. For the proportional representation and the National Assembly, 13 names have been recommended.

Tumyahang, who started politics from the Nepal Students' Union, is close to Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba. According to party spokesperson Bishwaraj Nalbu, the joint meeting held on Mangsir 25 and the district working committee meeting on 26 recommended Tumyahang's name.

For the proportional representation, the names of former Koshi Province Minister Pratap Prakash Hangam and former District Working Committee President Keshav Prasad Dahal have been recommended, and for women, Kalpana Devi Sitaula of Meringden Rural Municipality-5 Thukim has been recommended. For the National Assembly, 10 names have been recommended.

For the open representation, Mani Lama, Padmasundar Palungwa, Matrika Prasad Sherpa, Geeta Kumari Sendang and Bal Bahadur Tamang have been recommended, and for people with disabilities, Til Prasad Subba has been recommended. The names of Liladevi Bokhim, Matrikadevi Prasai Karki, Geeta Chauhan and Pramila Gurung have been recommended for the women's side. 

Bokhim and Geeta Kumari Sendang, who are members of the dissolved House of Representatives, have said that the recommendation was against their wishes. Bokhim has said that she will be a direct candidate, while Sendang has said that she wants to be a proportional representation candidate in the House of Representatives. Party spokesperson Nalbu said that the meeting made a unanimous decision.
