UML Vice President Surendra Pandey has said that he wants to end the practice of considering only those who surround the leader as worthy of leadership in the party.
At the 11th General Convention, Ishwor Pokharel group leader Pandey said that they have formed a separate group to put their candidacy in the General Convention to end the practice of only bringing those who surround the leader to the leadership, targeting Chairman KP Sharma Oli.
Vice President Pandey also argued that the General Convention should select a new leadership to establish a practice of selecting leaders by evaluating the leaders and cadres themselves and to move the party forward collectively. He said that the General Convention should also select a new leadership to move the party forward in a way that no one can shake.
‘We have fostered a practice of considering only those who surround the leader, not established people among the cadres, as suitable for leadership. We are against this,’ he said.
Vice President Pandey also objected to Chairman Oli amending the statute he had made again to allow only two terms as chairman.
