UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that it was a mistake to rely on the entire state machinery for security while he was in power. Chairman Oli said this at a meeting with journalists organized in Koteshwor on Thursday.

He said, we had made a mistake. We relied on the entire state mechanism for security. That's where the mistake happened.

He said that the people should protect themselves and asked where the state was when our house was burned. He said, 'Now that the UML has changed the situation, if anything happens to our house, get informed immediately, we will protect it.' He claimed that the UML would protect not only itself but also the country.

He also spoke about this, saying that after the Gen-G rebellion, some people accused him of running away. He asked where he ran away and said that he had talked to the President and the Chief of Army Staff where he was staying, and asked if he had run away. He only said that he had moved from Baluwatar to avoid accidents. He said, 'The children should act as if they had run away instead of running away. Will the children be happy?' He argued that they had changed their location to save the lives of others.

He has responded to the comment that he was in the caretaker position after the Gen-G rebellion and fled because he was in political dialogue. He  said, 'What would you have done if I had not fled? What did you want to do? I will ask the Gen-G leaders.'

He argued that UML has not changed much and that UML has remained loyal to the country as before. He also said that UML will move forward with more strength.
