Progressive Democratic Party (PRALOP) leader Janardan Sharma has criticized the then CPN-Maoist Center for failing to work in favor of the people. Addressing a 'Youth Training Program' organized in Rukum West on Monday, he said that he had not betrayed anyone.

He said that he had tried a lot to reform the party but did not follow Pushpa Kamal Dahal because it was not possible. 'I fought as hard as I could against corruption, in favor of good governance and for party building as long as I was in the Maoists,' he said, 'But instead of the leadership listening to me and following the path of reform, they looked at me with a sense of revenge and I have come to form a new party and work for the people.'

Refuting the accusations that he had run away, lost his way and betrayed the people, Sharma said that he has always been with the people and will remain so. He also expressed his commitment to continue working for the development and prosperity of Rukum at all times.

He said that he had tried to take the Maoist Center and the old election symbol instead of Pralopa but the Election Commission did not give it to him, so he came to the people with the eye election symbol. He said, 'Pralopa is a communist party with leftist ideology.'

Janardan Sharma, who was considered to be an undisputed powerhouse when he was in the former Maoist Center, has been put on the defensive after many leaders/activists switched to unity after the party split.

The division of the then Maoist Center, which had won all elections since the first Constituent Assembly elections and was established as the largest party in the district, has increased interest in whose favor the public opinion will be in the upcoming elections, especially since Janardan Sharma himself did not participate in the unity process. Therefore, there is little chance of anyone running for office from Rukum West in the upcoming elections getting an easy victory.
