Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that the government's primary responsibility is to hold elections on the announced date, hand over power to the youth, and lead the country on the path of rapid development.
Addressing the 22nd National Jyapu Day celebrations organized by the Jyapu Culture Development Fund in Kathmandu today, Prime Minister Karki informed that the government is fully prepared to hold the elections on the announced date.
She stated that the government is serious about addressing the demands raised by the Gen-G movement and stressed that all parties should be committed to fulfilling their demands such as ending corruption, good governance, employment and guaranteeing food, shelter and cotton.
She said, “We have learned an important lesson from the events that took place during the Gen-G movement on Bhadra 23 and 24. The youth of the country have demanded an end to corruption, establishing good governance and ensuring the basic needs of the common people—employment, food, shelter and cotton. Everyone needs to be determined and work from their respective places to fulfill those demands. In addition, it is our responsibility to hold a general election on Falgun 21 and hand over power to the youth and move the country towards rapid development. Therefore, the government is fully prepared with the goal of holding the elections on the announced date. The support of all Nepalis is needed to make this campaign successful.’
Prime Minister Karki also pointed out the need to link cultural preservation with tourism. She extended her best wishes to the Newar community of the valley on the occasion of Yomari Punhi and Jyapu Day.
