NCP leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha has clarified that the party has been unified with the aim of ending the distortions and anomalies within the party and moving the country towards political stability, good governance and socio-economic transformation. At the 'Unity Message Assembly' organized in Biratnagar, he said that bringing the communist forces under one front is the need of the hour.
Shrestha said that in the current situation, a commitment to reform the party is necessary, not a race to change parties, and said, "We will stand firm against the distortions and anomalies seen in the parties, and if necessary, we will change the way we run the party."
According to him, the main objective of party unity is not only to gain power but also to strengthen national unity, protect the constitution and move towards its amendment as needed. He said, "Protecting the constitution is our first responsibility. However, we will not back down from necessary amendments as the time demands."
Shrestha said that the responsibility now lies with the communist power to bring political change to the lives of the people. He said that socio-economic transformation, good governance, prosperity and social justice are the party's first priorities. He said that it is the party's responsibility to move forward by fulfilling the issues of justice, equality and improvement in living standards raised by the Gen-G rebellion that has spread across the country.
‘First, leaders must change themselves’
Stating that there is a need for comprehensive reforms within the party, Shrestha said that leaders must improve their own behavior, end corruption and re-strengthen the broken relationship with the people.
He emphasized, ‘We will end corruption within the party, we will re-deepen the relationship with the people. Change must be visible in the lives of the people.’
