Nepali Communist Party Co-Coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that a grand campaign of economic and social transformation is now necessary to institutionalize the political changes in the country.

He said that the communists have united with the goal of achieving ‘socialism with Nepali characteristics’ based on equality and justice by ending widespread corruption, misrule, unemployment and foreign dependence.

Addressing the Unity Message Assembly organized at Pokhara’s Manadhikar Chowk on Sunday, he stressed the need for a strong plan and honesty to resolve political instability and economic crisis. Leader Nepal pointed out that the main reason for the deterioration of the country’s politics is dishonesty, corruption and a selfish and individualistic tendency to ignore the people.  He said that the tendency not to listen to the problems of the new generation has also left the country behind. .

He mentioned that through the Unity Assembly, the communists have resolved to address the suffering of the people and dedicate themselves to serving the people. He stressed that agriculture, hydropower and tourism should be given priority to build a self-reliant economy by breaking foreign dependence.

‘Imports can be replaced by increasing agricultural production through cooperative farming and other means. Pokhara can be made a strong base for Nepal's economy by making it a tourism hub,' he said. 'Like countries that have become rich by selling petrol by producing about 100,000 megawatts of hydropower, Nepal also has the potential to become rich by selling electricity.'

He clarified that the Communist Party is engaged in a campaign to end exploitation, discrimination, inequality and violence against women that are prevalent in the country's social structure.
