Bibeksheel Sajha's unity with the National Independent Party (NISP) is a step in line with the need for unity seen in alternative politics, said Samiksha Baskota, chairperson of Bibeksheel Sajha.
After the party's decision to merge with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was made public on Wednesday, Chairman Baskota told Kantipur that the two parties agreed to merge to meet the need for unity among new political parties and groups after the Gen-G movement.
Baskota also said that the two parties have decided to move forward unitedly and only technical issues remain to be resolved. 'There was a need for polarization in Nepal's alternative politics.' We have made every effort to address the polarization seen in alternative politics after the Gen-G movement. This unity is also a message to alternative parties, groups and new parties,' she said.
Chairman Baskota said that the two parties will move forward together in institutional development. She said that the decision to merge was reached after the leaders of the two parties were ready to embark on a long political journey together. 'We are becoming fellow travelers on a long political journey, united,' she said.
Baskota says that the issue of which party's election symbol and flag will be secondary after the unity is not important. 'The technical details will be made public at the unity declaration meeting next Sunday. There is nothing else besides that. The decision to unite has been made because alternative politics is the need of the day,' she said.
Ashutosh Pradhan, spokesperson of Bibeksheel Sajha, has issued a statement informing that the unity will be with the Rashtriya Swatantra Party. 'The leading party of alternative politics, Bibeksheel Sajha Party, has decided to unite with its close friend Shakti Rastriya Swatantra Party,' Pradhan said in a statement on Wednesday. 'The party's central committee meeting held today unanimously approved the 'bigger polarization/unification proposal' of party vice-chairman and coordinator of the dialogue committee, Prakash Chandra Pariyar, among alternative political parties and passed the decision to unite with the Rastriya Swatantra Party.'
The Bibeksheel Sajha has stated that the two parties have united on the main points of consolidating the contribution of Ujwal Thapa, the pioneer of alternative politics and founder of the party, and the 'Bibeksheel Andolan' and making the House of Representatives elections result-oriented.
