General Secretary Sharma says that if a regular general convention is not possible, a special general convention is the last option.
Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma has said that it is still possible to hold the party's regular general convention within the month of Poush.
Sharma, who arrived in Ilam Bazaar on Monday, made the remarks while addressing the cadres after inspecting the Congress office that was set on fire during the Gen-G movement.
General Secretary Sharma, while commenting that a regular general convention is possible even though time is running out, stressed that leaders and cadres across the country should unite for a regular general convention. He opined that a schedule should be made for the regular general convention without delay. He said that if a regular general convention is not possible, a special general convention is the last option.
'The first option is to hold a regular general convention within the last week of Poush and if that is not possible, both options are open, for which party President Sher Bahadur Deuba should open his chest and inaugurate a special general convention within 2082 Mangsir. The Congress, which has entered the elections under the leadership of the working committee that emerged from the special general convention, should hold a regular general convention again within 2083 Mangsir after a year,' he said.
Sharma earlier said, 'The President has the opportunity to become the second Subarna Shumsher by inaugurating the special general convention by mid-Mansir and paving the way like Subarna Shumsher of 2014, for which he should broaden his chest.' The Nepali Congress district office building in Ilam was burned during the Gen-G movement. He advised the cadres, who came to inspect the same building, to be responsible and restrained.
