As many as 64 political parties have applied for party registration with the Election Commission as of Monday for the purpose of participating in the House of Representatives elections. There are still two days left for the party registration period for the House of Representatives elections. The number of parties wishing to participate in the elections is certain to increase further during that period.

Of the 14 political parties represented in the dissolved House of Representatives, 12 have already applied for party registration with the aim of participating in the House of Representatives elections to be held on 21 Falgun. Nepali Congress, Nepali Communist Party (formed after the unification of the then Maoist Center and Unified Socialists), Rastriya Swatantra Party, Janata Samajwadi Party, Janmat Party, Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal have already applied for party registration with the Commission for election purposes.

Similarly, the Democratic Socialist Party Nepal, Nagarik Unmukti Party, Nepal Mazdoor Kisan Party, Rastriya Janamorcha and Aam Janata Party, which were represented in the previous House of Representatives, have reached the registration process. UML, which is in second place in terms of number of seats in the dissolved House of Representatives, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party, which is in fifth place, are yet to apply for registration for the House of Representatives elections. UML is raising the demand for the restoration of the House of Representatives. However, it is understood that preparations for party registration have been made. The party's publicity department chief Rajendra Gautam said that the party will be updated with the commission as needed. 'There is still time left.' He said, 'A constitutionally formed political party updates itself within time.' RPP spokesperson Mohan Kumar Shrestha said that the party has made the necessary preparations for registration. He informed that the party will go to the commission for the party registration process on Tuesday.

Article 271 of the Constitution and Section 48 of the Political Parties Act, 2073 BS states that parties registered with the commission must re-register their parties for the purpose of participating in the relevant elections. Accordingly, the commission has set the period from 1 to 10 Mangsir for the election on 21 Falgun. The number of parties registered with the commission has reached 135 as of Monday. Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai says that parties wishing to participate in the House of Representatives elections must re-register for election purposes. He said that out of the 135 political parties registered with the commission, 64 parties have applied to participate in the House of Representatives elections by Monday. The commission will finalize the names of the registered parties after studying the documents submitted by the parties.

Netra Bikram Chand, who had been boycotting the elections earlier, has also applied to the commission to register his political party and participate in the elections on Monday. A party named Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) has been registered under Chand's leadership.

The commission has stated that 16 new political parties have been registered since the announcement of the House of Representatives elections. On Monday alone, three political parties received party registration certificates. The Janadesh Party Nepal led by Advocate Raman Kumar, the Sovereign Citizen Party led by Ganesh Kumar Mandal, and the Civil Service Party led by Shriya KC have been registered. Earlier, the Citizens' Supreme Party Nepal led by Ratna Prasad Shrestha, Hamro Party Nepal led by Khagendra Sunar, and Swabhiman Party led by Satyawan Kumar Singh have been registered. Similarly, the Ujjwal Nepal Party led by Anup Kumar Upadhyay, the People's First Party led by Prashant Singh, and the National Energetic Party, Nepal led by Yogendra Mandal have been registered.

Similarly, the Rashtra Nirman Dal Nepal led by Akbar Khan, the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) led by Netra Bikram Chand, the National Janmat Party led by Riyaz Ahmed Shesh, the National Change Party led by Rajesh Pratel, the Citizens' Liberation Party, Nepal led by Kabir Sop, the Dynamic Democratic Party led by Dinesh Raj Prasai, and the Labor Culture Party led by Harka Raj Rai have been registered.
