UML has expressed serious objections to the incident that took place in Simara, Bara. The Central Secretariat meeting discussed the Simara incident and accused the government of moving towards banning political parties.
"These activities of not allowing leaders to travel freely to different parts of the country, not allowing them to participate in political activities, are not leading the government towards creating an environment for elections, but rather towards prohibition," said Deputy Secretary General Pradeep Gyawali after a central secretariat meeting on Thursday evening. "Therefore, the relevance of restoring the parliament, that is, restoring the House of Representatives, has increased even more."
The UML has stated that it is aware that there are attempts to target the party's program with an encounter. "We are fully alert. It is clear from the recent developments that there are attempts to obstruct our party. There are attempts to cause encounters in the Terai-Madhesh, to limit the location of leaders or prevent them from reaching their destinations, and to reduce unwanted incidents by infiltration," Gyawali said. "We are aware of that. Our volunteer teams will be fully prepared and all necessary preparations have been made to protect the leadership and the program."
