The party led by Netra Bikram Chand has changed its name. It has been registered with the Election Commission after changing its name from Nepal Communist Party to CPN (Maoist). The party's election symbol is a rose, informed leader Asal Chhetri.
Before going to collect the registration certificate from the Election Commission, Chand had said that he would link the Maoist movement with Gulav. He wrote on social media, 'Let's move forward with a new front of a unified people's revolution by linking the Maoist movement with Gulav. New time, new generation, new movement! Let's trust in the new decision of the people.'
Janardan Sharma, the then Maoist Deputy General Secretary, and Ghanshyam Bhusal of the Unified Socialist Party, who did not join the unification process of the Maoist and CPN-S parties, have reached a new agreement to form a common front with Netra Bikram Chand and move forward.
Sharma, Bhusal and Chand have raised the issue of leadership transfer, saying that the current leadership of the old parties cannot meet the expectations of the youth.
