Utsav Subedi, a member of the Youth Congress, said, ”We had been looking for a place within the Congress party even before the Gen-G movement. But we didn't get it. We are still struggling for that.”

The Gen-G movement and demonstrations of Bhadra 23 and 24 led to the collapse of the government led by UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli. An interim government led by former Chief Justice Sushila Karki was formed. The main leadership of the movement against corruption was led by the generation born between 1997 and 2012. This is called the Gen-G generation.
Meanwhile, the agitators, i.e. the Gen-G generation, are at the peak of discussion . While various Gen-G groups are being organized, there is still confusion within the old parties about giving 'space' to Gen-G. Although discussions are underway within some parties to form a Gen-G special committee and give youth a place in the constitution, it has not yet been completed .
Nepali Congress Publicity Department Chief Min Bishwakarma said that no Gen-G special committee will be formed within the party . He said, 'Ours is a party with a lot of youth . We have made a constitution to have at least 15 percent youth representatives from the 13th general convention . Now we are in discussions to increase this further .'
He also said that discussions are underway to increase the number of youth representatives in the upcoming regular general convention . 'There is no doubt about increasing youth participation . But this should not be called a Gen-G committee,' Bishwakarma said .
Meanwhile, the Oli-led UML is holding its general convention in Mangsir. The UML has said that youth under the age of 40 from across the country will also participate as representatives in the upcoming general convention. It claims that one out of four representatives from the House of Representatives constituency will necessarily be a youth.
Similarly, party spokesperson and publicity department head Rajendra Gautam said that preparations for People's Volunteers have begun within the party. 'A task force has been formed under the leadership of Mahesh Basnet. After he made the report public, we are preparing to go from the ward level,' he said, 'This will include teams of the Gen-G age group.'
Meanwhile, the Nepali Communist Party led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal has stated that it will include Gen-G in its manifesto. The party's commitment letter states that it will be committed to addressing the issues and aspirations of the Gen-G generation.
Party leader Agni Sapkota also said that the party will take the Gen-G age group forward by forming the party's central committee and mass organization. 'Discussions are underway in the party. Gen-G and the new generation will be given a lot of space. Discussions are underway to give them a lot of space in the central committee,' he said, 'We are in discussions to include Gen-G in YCL, students' unions and other mass organizations.'
Gen-G's dissatisfaction persists
Even though the parties say they will improve themselves, the Gen-G generation's dissatisfaction persists. The Gen-G generation of the Nepali Congress has been looking for space in the party for a long time. However, they complain that the movement has not come to the attention of the leadership.
The youth of the Congress say that they have been looking for 'space' within the party for a long time, but the leadership has not cared. Utsav Subedi, a member of the Youth Congress, said, 'We had been looking for a place within the Congress party since before the Gen-G movement. But we did not get it. We are still struggling for that.'
He says that even though the party has given space, it has not accepted its existence. 'Our party calls itself the party with the largest number of youth. But they have not been able to accept the Youth Congress so far,' Subedi said, 'We have been operating this for a long time. But they have not accepted it as a benevolent organization yet.'
Similarly, another youth Gaurav Bhandari said that there is no option but to find a place for the youth within the party as per the constitution. He said, 'Due to the current special situation, a special general convention is being held. It is not possible to select representatives in this general convention, but for the regular general convention to be held now, the youth should be made representatives from the bottom, i.e. from the regional level.
Similarly, coordinator Smriti Timsina said that the 'Red Gen-G Force' formed by the then Maoists in Asoj is also not with Dahal. Timsina said that they are not affiliated with Dahal after the Dahal-led Maoist Center formally split on Kartik 18.
According to the coordinator of the force, Timsina, they are no longer behind Dahal. She said, 'We are not from this party or that party. This is a place where friends of leftist ideology can unite. Because of my background, I am considered to be associated with the party. But we leftists are moving forward with the aim of uniting.'
However, during the formation, Timsina had stated that they would support Dahal. During the formation on 27 Asoj, she had said, ‘95 percent of the grassroots are in favor of giving Dahal the leadership for five years.’
But now she said that they are not behind Dahal. She told Kantipur, ‘We are inspired by the revolution and the People’s Liberation Army led by Dahal, but now we are not going to join Dahal’s Nepali Communist Party.’
