Former UML vice-chairman Bhim Rawal has expressed his willingness to join the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), which is made up of the Maoist Center, Unified Socialists and smaller parties. A leader participating in the discussion said that he, who formed the 'Matribhumi National Awakening Campaign' after the UML 'took action', is positive about joining the new NCP.

In a discussion held on Sunday with NCP coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal, co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal, leaders Prakash Jwala, Bhanubhakta Joshi, Rawal said that he will join the party because he has shared views on issues including nationality. According to a leader participating in the discussion, it is almost certain that Rawal will be given priority in the new NCP based on the position and ranking of the NCP formed after the UML and Maoist unity in 2075 BS.

He has political influence in the Far West and Karnali provinces. Dahal and Nepal understand that Rawal will have a positive impact in the Far West and Karnali provinces after joining the new NCP.

Now, preparations are underway to conclude that he will join the NCP after one or two rounds of discussions. A NCP leader informed that a unity program will be organized on Kartik 27 after the agreement.

‘Discussion with Karmed Bhim Rawal was positive,’ said leader Prakash Jwala, who participated in the meeting, ‘There is no objection to working together.’

UML had taken action against Rawal in 2081 Bush for making statements against the party’s policy, even removing him from the party’s organized membership. He competed with KP Oli Sharma for the post of chairman at the 10th general convention held in Chitwan in Mangsir, 2078. After being defeated for the post of chairman, he had been presenting himself as a strong critic of Oli.
