The meeting of the Nepali Congress Central Working Committee has been postponed again. The meeting has been postponed until Kartik 25 following the death of party leader Aftab Alam.

The party has also decided to observe three days of mourning for Alam's death and close the central, provincial and district offices for one day on Sunday.

The meeting has been continuously postponed amid growing controversy over holding the party's general convention. The meeting, which began on September 28, has not yet concluded.

The first meeting held after the Gen-G movement has not yet been able to formally decide which option to stand for between the election and the restoration of parliament.

Although most leaders have expressed their opinion on going to the election, the party has not yet decided on this. The meeting is embroiled in the controversy over the general convention itself. Since the issue of holding a regular general convention or a special general convention has not been resolved, no other national issues have been seen as Congress's priorities. In the new situation that has emerged after the Gen-G movement, the party's presence in national politics has been weak.

According to Prem KC, Secretary of the Congress Central Office, 102 leaders have expressed their opinions so far, while 53 leaders are yet to speak. It is likely that the meeting will be extended for a few more days as many leaders are yet to speak.
