CPN (Maoist Center) leader Janardan Sharma has said that he could not accept the upcoming unity between the Maoist Center and the Unified Socialists, which goes against the anti-corruption demands and sentiments of the Gen-G movement.

He said this at a press conference held in Lalitpur on Tuesday. Sharma said that for the past few years, he has been trying to transform the Maoist party, make it transparent, make it in favor of good governance and accountable to the people, implement the legal system, and move forward by reorganizing the party as a whole, but he has not been successful.

He said that there has been a Gen-G rebellion on the basis of leader- ship and anti-corruption, and admitted that the efforts to transform the party have failed within the party. He accused Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal of making the party more chaotic and lawless by pretending to unite the party with Madhav Nepal, the chairman of the Unified Socialist Party, who is facing a corruption case.

Sharma said, “You are aware that for the past few years, we have been debating on transforming the Maoist party, making it transparent, making it in favor of good governance and accountable to the people, implementing the legal system within the party, and moving forward by reorganizing and restructuring the party as a whole. Recently, the Gen-G movement has also made it clear that the party system, leader system and corruption within the party laid the foundation for it. That is why our efforts to transform this reality within the party were not successful. Today, we cannot accept this drama of unity that has been made more chaotic, lawless, and concentrated all power in the hands of a limited number of one or two leaders. We could not agree to the unity that is going against the anti-corruption demands and sentiments raised by the Gen-G movement.'

He also accused the general public, voters and workers of being misled and trying to spread hatred in the name of unity.
