The CPN (Maoist Center) has approved a proposal at a secretariat meeting to unify the party with eight different parties, including the Unified Socialists.
The decision was made at a plenary meeting of the party's general convention organizing committee held on Wednesday, party spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota said. According to Sapkota, the party's name after the unification will be 'Nepali Communist Party'.
He said that the party's guiding principle will be Marxism-Leninism and the program will be scientific socialism with Nepali characteristics. He said that the immediate strategy will be to protect the achievements of the capitalist, democratic revolution, protect national independence, good governance, social justice, socio-economic prosperity and transform it, thereby preparing the basis for socialism.
Sapkota said, 'The party's guiding principle will be Marxism-Leninism. The program of the Nepali revolution will be scientific socialism with Nepali characteristics. The party's immediate strategy will be to protect the achievements of the capitalist, democratic revolution, protect national independence, good governance, social justice, socio-economic prosperity and transform it, thus preparing the basis for socialism.'
According to him, the movement the party will now carry out will be peaceful. He said, "Depending on the situation, all fronts including the streets, parliament and government will become the medium of the movement."
Sapkota also informed that a party unity national conference will be organized in Kathmandu on Wednesday. He said that the conference will complete the tasks of party unity, declaration, passing of interim statute and formation of central committee.
