The 11th General Convention of the CPN (UML) is to be held in Kathmandu. The decision was taken at a secretariat meeting held at the residence of Chairman KP Sharma Oli in Gundu on Saturday. The previous central committee meeting had decided to hold the 11th National General Convention in Pokhara. However, today's meeting has decided to change the venue and hold it in Kathmandu, said the party's Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali.

It has been decided to hold the UML general convention from Mangsir 27 to 29. It is said that representatives will be selected from 667,630 party members in various proportions for the general convention. It is said that the selection of representatives will be held simultaneously across the country on Saturday, Mangsir 13. It is also said that the details of the representatives should be sent to the central office by the evening of Mangsir 15.

The House of Representatives constituency has been taken as the basis for the selection of representatives. It is said that in a House of Representatives constituency, at least four people will be elected from each constituency, equal to 1,200 party members, two open, one woman, and one youth under the age of 40. In addition, it is said that one more representative will be elected for every 800 members, and it is said that women will be mandatory among them. It is claimed that at least one-third of the representatives will be women.

In the case of Dalit party members, there will be a district election unit for them and one representative will be elected from every 500 Dalit representatives. For the reserved area (trade union), it is stated that the province is considered a unit and seven representatives, two women and five open, will be elected from each province from among the party members of the trade unions in the province.

It is stated that there will be five representatives, two women and three open, from the mass organizations of twenty-three parties. It is stated that there will be seven additional representatives from the six mass organizations of the federation structure. It has been arranged that one representative will be elected from each department of the party and one representative from the central office.

It is stated that five representatives, three open and two women, will be elected from the provincial committees of the party. It is stated that five representatives will be elected from each of the six continental-level organizations in the diaspora.

It is stated that there will be about 2,100 representatives, including 970 lower-level organizations, 47 from special districts, 81 from Dalits, 49 from trade unions, 30 from diaspora, 33 from central departments and offices, and 127 from mass organizations.

It is stated that there will be 464 ex-officio representatives, including 354 from the Central Committee, 29 from the Disciplinary Commission, 30 from the Accounts Commission, 25 from the Election Commission, and 25 from the Advisors.

According to the plan to mobilize the people to protect the constitution and safeguard democracy, it has been decided to hold public meetings in all 6,743 wards across the country on Kartik 22, demonstrations in each municipality on Kartik 25, public meetings in each district on Kartik 29, and public meetings in Kathmandu on Mangsir 6.
